Dr. John Patton, DPM, FACFAS, is a surgically trained Podiatrist whose specialized training brings focus and attention to the diseases, disorders and surgery of the foot & ankle.

Dr. Patton graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in Pre-Med Zoology in 1988, and went on to attend medical school at the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, graduating in 1992 with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree (DPM).  Afer completing three years of specialized surgical training in 1995 at the Salt Lake Veterans Administration Medical Center, University of Utah Medical Center, LDS Hospital (all in Salt Lake City, UT), and McKay-Dee Hospital (in Ogden, UT),  He was then appointed as Chief Resident and served as such his entire third year of residency. 

Having grown up in rural areas of Montana and Idaho, Dr. Patton found Elko to be a perfect fit for he and his family to live and practice.  He began his podiatric practice in Elko, Nevada, after completing residency training in 1995 and has dedicated 23 years of specialized foot & ankle care to the residents of Elko and the surrounding areas.

In addition to his 23 years of experience, Dr. Patton is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS).  In addition to, he is also credentialed as a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS),  a member of the Nevada Podiatric Medical Association (NPMA), American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), and the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC).

Dr. Patton has been an active participant and continues to contribute to the medical community of Elko in multiple ways -- his service includes: service at Northern Nevada Regional Hospital (NNRH) as Chief of Surgery, Medical Staff Secretary, and Vice Chief of Medical Staff, NNRH Chief of Staff and Past Chief of Staff and currently serves on the medical executive committee as a member at large.  Dr. Patton has served on the Board of Great Basin Surgical Center (GBSC) for the past several years including Vice Chair on the Board and Chairman of the Board. 

Dr. Patton played college baseball, and travelled thousands of miles (literally!) following  the athletic competition of his three children. So he has a particular interest in the treatment of sports injuries and sports medicine.  He has been involved in elementary, middle and high school sports as a coach, sports medicine consultant, and in treating foot & ankle sports injuries of area athletes.   In addition, he also participates with other local providers in serving the local community to provide sports physicals to Elko County High School athletes.

Dr. Patton and his wife Karen have been married 31 years and are the proud parents of three children and have enjoyed raising their family in the Elko area.  Their family has been intricately involved in the local community, school activities, and their church.
